Irving Hill, McVeytown, Mifflin County, PA
Outside of McVeytown is a well known area legend. In the way back while the area still had an active mining operation, there was a miner with the last name of Irvin. One night his wife disappeared under odd circumstances. Some tales speak of murder, some speak of her running off with another man.
All the stories we have heard speak of a mysterious light that can be seen searching the fields near the hill. The light is said to be Mr Irvin searching for his missing wife.
Many people from the greater Lewistown area have been to this location, back in the day. From them we get reports that flashlight batteries get drained. Sometime cars will not start when when people wish to leave the area.
We at NightWatch Paranormal put out a call to the locals so we could collect and share their personal stories. We were overwhelmed by the shear number of people who have had experiences at this location. Many of the stories, told at different times and by people who don't know each other, often coincide.

I remember going there and wondering what it was all about. There were 5 or 6 of us in the group and some had been there before. We watched and waited and the light appeared coming down through the field and went out. Two if the guys went up to where the light was at the top if the field. It appeared and bounced from place to place. Then the two guys came skipping downhill through the field with the light between them. It would only come so far then vanish. Some told us it was car lights or field gasses but it wasn't. It was a bright light that came out of nowhere with a life of it's own. The van we were in did have a little trouble starting but after a few tries we were on our way. No one has ever explained logical what that light could be. Kids must not go there anymore as no one ever talks about it. ~ Pamela
At one point, my great uncle was the origin of the light. He knew of the legend, would wait for kids to go to the hill to experience the legend, and would shine a light to watch the reactions from the kids. I grew up in McVeytowm, but never witnessed the light. I'm not sure what the origin was before my uncle's trickery. ~ Melissa
Went there once in s group when in high school. Two guys in our group walked up the little hill through the field. The light appeared in the middle of the field and travelled around. The guys and the light met up and came skipping down through the field together then the light zipped back up to the tree line. Freaky!! But that's what I saw!!
